Lee Roy Selmon blends the advantages of a scholarship to football in his family and volunteering in the community. First, his familial. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. The family raised nine kids on a Eufala farm. He played second in football and was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. Three brothers were All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for the entire nation. For the three seasons that Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. Selmon was honored when the National Football Foundation named him an Scholar-Athlete for the 3rd time in 1975. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in education. Lee Roy's fourth volunteer service consisted of ten hours a week as a volunteer in college. He settled down in Tampa following college. He was a member of the Buccaneers for nine years and made three times all-pro. His career in business began. The year 1988 was the first time he began working as an Account Relations Officer at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the country's most outstanding young men. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 7-foot-2. While he was in college, he commanded the 1975 team. In 1993, he was named as associate director at the University of South Florida. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by The Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 gave their Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor, who presented this award.
