Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin has been an actor in Canada as well as New Zealand for over a decade. Paquin is a native of Winnipeg, raised in Wellington and first made her acting debut as Flora McGrath when she played the character as Flora in The Piano. She won an Academy Award at the age of 11 to be the Best Supporting Actress. Anna Paquin full name Anna Helene Paquin born July 24, 1982 in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. Canadian-born New Zealand actor who won the Academy Award as a youngster as Best Supporting Actress acting as the bright and interesting girl who played Holly Hunter's leading role in The Piano. Following a prompt for open auditions when she was nine years old, with no prior experience acting when she was selected for the role of Flora McGrath role. Flora is the child of the Scottish pianist who was mute. The couple relocated from Scotland to New Zealand during the middle of the nineteenth century to get married. As a teenager she emigrated from New Zealand to United States. Paquin had the role of lead in Fly Away Home in 1996 and also had a small part as Jane Eyre when she was only a child. Paquin appeared as Frankie Addams, a character from Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 her character was the Spanish queen in a lesser role. She played teens on the screen in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (1998), A Walk on the Moon (1998) as well as Almost Famous (2000). She also portrayed the groupie Polexia Aphrodisa.
